Report: James Patterson Accidentally Writes the Same Book Again

In a shocking turn of events, bestselling author James Patterson is in hot water for plagiarism. The source material? His own book.
As first reported in LibZoom, die-hard James Patterson fans might notice something familiar about his upcoming thriller Spider, Coming Through!: it’s almost identical to his most popular book, 1993’s Along Came a Spider.

Patterson has written (or cowritten) over 114 New York Times bestsellers in his career. When advanced copies of Spider, Coming Through! went out last month, some early readers took to social media to point out the similarities.
When asked for comment, Patterson addressed the situation simply: “Whoops.”
You know, something felt off when I was writing this one, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. When I saw the social media posts from early readers, the only thing I could do was chuckle. I’ve written a lot of books. Honestly, I’m kind of surprised this didn’t happen earlier.
The publisher intends to release the book as planned, encouraging people to “Just go with it.”
