Books on Film: The BBC Talks Diversity in Children’s Books
Spurred by recent findings by the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, the topic of diversity (or rather, lack thereof) in children’s books has been receiving a lot of attention lately. The BBC has picked up on the topic and recently ran this story.

I live in Dekalb County in Georgia and we have one of the most diverse populations in the country because Refugee Family Services is based here. I can attest to the fact that what I see on the book shelves doesn’t match what I see when I walk down the streets. It’s part of why I’ve tried to market myself as a multi-cultural illustrator. And I’m proud to have a lot of diversity in the books I’ve illustrated so far. But there’s more work to be done!
