Love this one! Ginger Pye enjoys an occasional check-out in my library, but I just know that it would fly out if it had your cover on it! So appealing!

Thanks, Brenda. The dog image that I found (through creative commons search on Flickr) does seem to work. In the ranks of the Covering the Newbery jackets, I like this one more than many of them.

Nice. And at the top of the original cover there is the unfortunate sketch of the little boy, er, “patting” the dog, which does seem to make a re-do desirable!

That was my first thought, too, Elizabeth! That alone qualifies it for Unfortunate Cover status.
