Link Du Jour: Top 10 Graphic Novels
Booklist recently announced their list of the Top 10 Graphic Novels for youth, and you have to give them points for originality. While there are a few titles on the list you might know (The Unsinkable Walker Bean, Yummy: The Last Days of a Southside Shorty), I’m willing to bet my cardigan (well, maybe an item of equal value) that there are a few you weren’t aware of. And really, isn’t that what makes a list like this worth it? I’m off to find a copy of Return of the Dapper Men. Click here (or the image below) to read.

Thanks for the memory jog. Now I am wondering where I stashed my copy of Booklist.

I can NOT get my system to buy Trickster. I don’t know what their block is, but I submitted that request after I saw the book at Small Press Expo, after NY Comic Con… HRMMMPH!! Frustrating.
It’s a cool list – I too want to get my hands on Dapper Men, and I always adore Jill Thompson’s work. But my kids and I weren’t as impressed with Walker Bean as a lot of people seem to have been.

I know Walker Bean has been circulating well at my 5th and 6th grade school, but I haven’t talked with students about it yet.

Also have you seen The New Brighton Arch. Society? I haven’t finished it yet, but it is beautiful.

I have seen, and support all four of the books you mentioned, Tom. The ol’ top 10 list is just as good for highlighting books that didn’t make it as books that did.
