Ah, yes, this one goes in the Gothic Gates file:

I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett

Add this cover to the popular Holding Stuff group:

Tighter by Adele Griffin

Another one for the Psycho file:

And, of course…

The Ashton Place books don’t technically have gothic gates, but they sure are close! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061791121/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0061791059&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1MWTEXRPFK02ZWJAAAPN

The first thing I noticed along these lines when I worked at a used paperback store in Burbank was that every gothic romance novel ever published seemed to have a painting of a woman in a nightgown (with occasional fully-dressed variants) racing away from a turreted mansion (with rare standing-still variants) at night (with very rare daytime variants).
