The Tidal Wave of A.I. Children’s Books is Upon Us
This is one of those posts where some people might read it and say “Yes, of course, Travis”, while to others, this might be news. I’m just going to move ahead like this is news to you.
Remember a while back, when that dude went on Twitter and laid out how he published an A.I. generated picture book in a weekend? That got a lot of backlash (rightfully so) from the author/illustrator and publishing communities.

Unfortunately, that incident was a sign of things to come: A.I. generated books are (sadly) all over the place now, especially on Amazon, who makes it easy to self publish.
I was tipped off to this trend by a friend who was searching on Amazon for a book about a specific topic: patience. This is what came up:
Wow, okay, there’s a whole lot here that screams A.I.: the knockoff Pixar art, the misspelling of “patience”, THE HAND WITH SIX FINGERS. I did some digging and realized this is just the tip of the iceberg – there are tons of picture books (usually in the “lesson” books categories) that are clearly A.I. created.
Buyer beware.
