Talking about THE SHIP IN THE WINDOW with Matthew Cordell on NPR!

People sometimes ask me how much interaction the author and illustrator have while making a picture book. In my experience, it’s been pretty limited. I focus on the words and I completely trust the illustrator to bring their own vision to the story. That was the case with The Ship in the Window. And that’s why it was such a pleasure to talk with Matthew Cordell for NPR’s Weekend Edition. It’s the only time he and I have talked about making the book, and it was so cool to hear his thoughts on the process.
