ALA 2024 Bound

May 29, 2024 by Travis Jonker   1 comments

I’m headed to the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Diego next month. I’ll be doing interviewing some folks for The Yarn podcast, including this:

. . . signing a few books (The Ship in the Window and Caboose), taking in the Newbery/Caldecott Banquet, and popping into a few programs and sessions.

    Hi Travis,

SO excited to hear you will be at ALA 2024! I am an avid listener of the The Yarn and I can’t wait to read “The Ship in the Window” to come out! You and Matthew make a power duo! 🙂 By the way, do you happen to already know the time and day of your book signing(s) at ALA 2024?

I would also like to personally invite you, if you get the chance, to pop by my presentation at ALA 2024, on the Diversity Stage at 12:30pm on June 29, followed by a book signing at the publisher’s booth (Booth 1649). I will be giving a presentation discussing my latest picture book, “What Makes Us Human” (Eerdmans Books for Young Readers), which received a starred review from SLJ, was selected for the White Ravens 2023, and has been chosen by UNESCO as the official children’s book for the United Nations International Decade of Indigenous Languages. We will be talking about the importance of language in all its forms and building a multilingual library collection. Oh, I will also be giving away copies of the book in over 8 languages to attendees to help them kickstart their multilingual collection in case you know librarians who might be interested (the book has been translated into 22 languages so far).

Looking forward to hopefully seeing you at ALA 2024 one way or another, Travis! Thank you for all the amazing work you do for children’s literature. We are very lucky to have you!
