3 Takeaways from The 2023 Children’s Bestsellers List

Publishers Weekly recently released the list of bestselling children’s books of 2023. As always, I’m interested. Here are three thoughts I had while checking out the list.
1. Taylor Swift also dominates books now???

The Little Golden bio of Swift was one of only three books to sell over 500,000 copies. It would be a lie to say I was shocked to see this. But I do think this means we will be seeing many many more Taylor Swift books for young readers in the immediate future.
2. The Pigeon is on top. He would be so happy to know this.
Mo Willems beloved character is showing no signs of slowing down. The latest installment in the series, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh!, was the bestselling hardcover picture book of 2023.
3. Beware the Backlist.
Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar board book quietly outsold almost any other book in 2023, with the exception of the new Dog Man and the new Wimpy Kid.
