Newbery Jump, Caldecott Bump 2024

One great side effect of winning the Newbery and Caldecott Medals? The awards really move the needle in terms of sales. As soon as The Eyes and the Impossible (Newbery) and Big (Caldecott) were announced, librarians and booksellers around the country got busy tracking down copies. Often times, the Newbery and Caldecott winners can be hard to find for a few weeks until more copies can be printed.
So, it’s been over week since the Newbery and Caldecott were handed out – how are the winners faring on the New York Times Bestseller lists?

First up, Newbery:

Boom! The Eyes and the Impossible is currently sitting at #1 on the New York Times list.
And Caldecott:

Big is #6 on the Picture Book Bestsellers list.
It’s also common for Newbery and Caldecott Honor books to make the New York Times lists. None have showed up yet, but I’ll be keeping an eye on the situation.
