Books on Film: Scholastic Bookfairs on The Daily Show

Scholastic has been in the news lately for their bizarre handling of diverse titles in their book fairs. Why they felt the need to create a special case of diverse titles that book fair hosts could opt out of makes no sense to me.
The Daily Show recently covered the topic, but with some absurd comedy:
