5 Books I’m Bringing Out East
I’m traveling East with my family this month and the biggest packing question is, “What books do I bring?”
So here are five 2021 books I’m taking with me. It’s a mix of things that haven’t come out, and big books that published earlier in the year that I haven’t had a chance to read yet.

Billy Miller Makes a Wish by Kevin Henkes
It only came out two months ago, but the fact that I haven’t read this companion to The Year of Billy Miller is a crime. A children’s literature crime. Can’t wait to get started.
Agent 9: Flood-a-Geddon! by James Burks
Some books you save like a reward for when the time is right. That’s how I feel about this first book in James Burks’s new Agent 9 series. I know it’s going to be fun, and now that it’s summer, the time seems right. I’m digging in.
Gone to the Woods by Gary Paulsen
This book was in my TBR pile ever since Gary was on The Yarn podcast (maybe my favorite episode ever???). There’s going to be a lot of nature on our trip, so this book seems like the perfect companion.
Sunny Makes a Splash by Jennifer & Matthew Holm
My love of Sunny is well documented. I was happy to see a new book in the series.
Jukebox by Nidhi Chanani
I love music. I love graphic novels. This book combines both (with a little time traveling thrown in too).
