Cover Curiosity: Come One! Come All!

While sometimes I think a publisher will try to make like another book to try to steal, no, borrow some thunder, most of the time these things are just coincidences. Like today.

I happened to be checking both of these books in the other day when I stopped. How had I never realized how similar they look?

The blues and greens, the spotlight creating a glowing effect on the characters, the font choices. Definitely a pair.

  1. The cover of Orpheus Girl by Brynne Rebele-Henry looks a lot like the new-ish cover for Hold Still by Nina LaCour (created to match the cover for We Are Okay by LaCour). Same font, similar color scheme and illustration style with two girls standing side by side with backs (mostly) to camera. Definitely did a double take when I scrolled past a pic of Orpheus Girl for the first time.
