Instagramming ALA 2019: Part II
After experiencing an early victory (click here to read Part I), everything else is gravy. What follows are details about that gravy.
Here I am at The Yarn HQ. My first full day of conferencing was pretty Yarn-centric. As you saw in the last post, the day began with Dave Eggers. Following Dave was:

Yep, Mitali Perkins. We talked about her upcoming picture book Between Us and Abuela: A Family Story from the Border. I first met Mitali a bunch of years ago at ALA, so it was great to talk with her again.
After Mitali, I talked with:
Oge Mora, who you know from her 2019 Caldecott Honor-winning book, Thank You, Omu! What is it like to receive Caldecott attention for your debut? We talked about that and a bunch more.
Then I made a quick stop at the tweet wall . . .
. . . and continued on to interview Grace Lin, the last chat in a day that was an embarrassment of interview riches.
Grace and I talked about A Big Mooncake for Little Star. She shared how much the book was inspired by her family. After the interview, we chatted about her podcast, Kidlitwomen.
There’s something I forgot to do after our interview: take a picture. I’ll do better next time.
And speaking of Next Time, check back tomorrow for Part III.
