I Just Planned Your Whole VERY LAST CASTLE Story Time
Mark Pett and I made a picture book that comes out on Oct. 9th. It’s called The Very Last Castle and it’s about bravery. Nice things have been said about it.
If you’d like to use it during story time, just follow my patented (pending) five step plan . . .

STEP #1: GRAB THE VERY LAST CASTLE
Find it where books are sold. If you want to order from indie bookseller McLean & Eakin, you’ll get a free mini comic about the story.
STEP #2: START READING
Read The Very Last Castle. Have kids make the sounds from the book with you. Stop right when Ibb is about to find out what’s inside the castle. Have them make a prediction.
STEP #3: PICK A CRAFT
Youngsters (0-6 years old) can make a castle on a stick and draw what they think is inside:

Older kids can make a mini book and illustrate and finish the story themselves:

STEP #4: FINISH READING THE STORY
STEP #5: KEEP THE GOOD TIMES ROLLING! PICK A BOOK (OR BOOKS) TO PAIR WITH IT
Here are some appropriate pairing options for The Very Last Castle (but there are many more that will work nicely):
