Exclusive Cover Reveal: Are We There Yet? by Dan Santat

It’s my pleasure to reveal the cover for our reigning Caldecott Medalist’s next book, arriving April 12, 2016.

From the publisher:

In this astonishingly inventive new book from Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat, boredom is taken to the extreme. We all know time slows down when you’re bored–but what happens when time slows down so completely it starts going backward? On this boring car ride, a boy and his family travel back in time, visiting cowboys, pirates, dinosaurs, and more! And since time flies when you’re having fun, the boy is hurtled forward into the future–complete with robots and flying cars. But no matter how much fun distractions can be,  the boy must learn to appreciate the present to reach his ultimate destination: his grandmother’s house.
Incorporating lush spreads depicting children’s wildest dreams (pirates! Knights! Dinos!), a funny read-aloud, graphic novel elements, multiple layers of meaning perfect for rereads (and sure to appeal to the adult readers!), and an emotional core about the importance of family, Are We There Yet? guarantees kids will never look at being bored the same way again.

Here’s an exclusive first look at the cover:
