Summer Sellers
I realized it’s been a while since I’ve checked in on the latest New York Times bestsellers. I snuck a peek, and I must say: encouraged. I’ll post the top 5 and you can click to see the whole thing.
First up, picture books (click the list to see the entire top 10):

A nice mix of new arrivals and bestseller vets. Good to see our most recent Caldecott winner still hanging out in this group. By the numbers:
3 – The number of books illustrated by Jon Klassen in the top 10.
3 – The number of books in the top 10 from Chronicle, more than any other publisher on the list.
2 – Appearances by Pete the Cat in the top 10.
101 – Number of weeks Press Here has been on the list (it’s at #6), the most of any book. As I’ve said , people kind of like it.
Next up, middle grade (click the list to see the entire top 10):
Two Newbery winners! Later in the list (at #7) we see Out of My Mind, which continues to be a sneaky bestseller, and Linda Sue Park makes an appearance at #10 with A Long Walk to Water – another unexpected (and very welcome) sight.
