Elizabeth Bird (of A Fuse #8 Production) had a dream. A dream to conduct an entire conversation using nothing but the titles of books. She asked if I would be willing to help make this happen and I agreed because it sounded like a excellent dream to me. We wrote it up, filmed our scenes, and put it together.
Now, you may have heard that Candlewick Press is kicking off a yearlong campaign to honor the importance of picture books. It’s called “We Believe in Picture Books”, and they plan to post one video a day – 365 in total – to celebrate the fact that picture books are pretty great.
The site launches today (click here to visit) and we get to see The Bird’s dream realized. This was fun.

Love! Love! Love!! Congratulations on this wonderful new (soon to be mimicked everywhere) way of communicating!
Bestest thing on the Internet today. Betsy, you ham!
Thanks Elizabeth. Ha – her acting skills put me to shame, don’t they?
There’s no doubt Betsy should have been a 20s silent film star, but you did pretty well too Travis.
Ooooo….I think I feel a 4th grade assignment in the works!
This video completely made my day. So excited for a whole year of picture book love. Thank you Candlewick! And thanks Betsy and Travis, for a great launch video.
Betsy: You got it, kid. That certain something. You went out there just another gal associated with Fuse #8, but you came back A STAR.
I just watched your launching video-wonderful and fun to see, & then I watched Jon Klassen today. It’ll be a wonderful year! Thank you Elizabeth & Travis!
This is so much fun!
Love that clip.
Thanks, Sharon!
