In School Librarian Saturday, I’m going to share the websites, databases, apps, and other stuff I use with students in my K-5 teacher-librarian role, under the cover of internet darkness (see: the weekend).

This one is nostalgic, folks. For those of us who remember reading to earn personal pan pizzas in the 80s and 90s, Pizza Hut is moving the Book It! program in the iPhone age with the first ever app.

What It Is: It’s like the old Book It! poster in app form. It allows parents to register their child, set a reading goal, and then track minutes read toward that goal.
What’s Good About It: The app makes the process pretty convenient and smooth.
What’s Bad About It: The app is for parents only – teachers will register their class on the Book It website.
Last Words: I’m all for reading. I’m all for personal pan pizzas. So I’m happy to see that this program will continue on in this new format.
