What’s Selling? The Bestselling Children’s Books of the Week

Paywall, schmaywall – I’m screenshotting the New York Times bestselling books of the week so we can talk about them. First up, picture books:

I definitely sense a fall theme here, with Leaf Thief and a batch of Halloween-themed titles. Cool to see Caldecott honor book Knight Owl back on the list, no doubt buoyed by sequel Knight Own and Early Bird. And it appears that Christmas is on some people’s minds, with the first-ever Harry Potter picture book topping the list.

Wait – no Wonder? That’s rare. Overall this list is quite a mix – you’ve got celebs (Comedian Kate McKinnon tops the list with her first middle grade outing), series (Detective Duck x2), favorite authors (Kate DiCamillo with Hotel Balzaar), and a smattering of nonfiction.
