Yesterday Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced that six Seuss books would cease to be published.
My opinion? It’s a good move.
If you’re upset, please take a look at those books. They’re ROUGH. Stereotypes and racist caricatures abound. They contain stuff that as a school librarian I don’t feel comfortable sharing with kids – so I don’t.
The hope is that we make progress as a society, right? We try to learn and get better and move forward. To me, that’s all there is to it, and that’s what’s happening here.
