We Publish Caldecott Winners: 2019

October 8, 2019 by Travis Jonker   1 comments

My goal for this post is simple: determine which publisher has put out the most Caldecott Medal/Honor winners over the last 20 years.

But once we start crunching the numbers, things get a little tricky.

Because mergers.

For example, Roaring Brook Press didn’t used to be an imprint of Macmillan. Now it is. So I added all the Roaring Brook Caldecotts to the Macmillan total.

I did a similar post a little while back (so did Fairrosa), but it seemed like the numbers could use updating.

So how do the numbers shake out?

What’s changed since the last time I did this post? Hachette made a big leap into third, thanks to the recent Caldecott tear by Little, Brown. A couple more smaller publishers joined the list.

Utterly fascinating. I would have bet good money on some of these getting more than they have. Had to look up Handprint Books too (it’s an imprint of Chronicle). Thanks for doing the legwork on this one!
