Tomi Ungerer: 1931-2019
I’m sad to hear that the great picture book creator Tomi Ungerer has passed away.
RIP our beloved Tomi. Words escape us at this difficult moment but in the end, Tomi says it best. Yvonne, Aria, Pascal, Lukas and Phoebe Ungerer.

The Three Robbers is my favorite book of his, but just about everything he’s made is great. Phaidon has been reissuing a lot of Ungerer’s book in the last few years.
If you’re interested in learning more about him, the documentary Far Out Isn’t Far Enough is excellent.
A couple years ago, I shared this wonderful 1981 Weston Woods interview with Tomi Ungerer.
Archive.org has the film adaptations of a couple of his stories: Moon Man . . .
. . . and The Three Robbers.
RIP

Thank you for noting his passing. Moon Man was one of the first books I remember reading by myself
