100 Must-Reads for Kids 9-14 from NPR
NPR just released their list of 100 Must-Reads for kids 9-14. By a stroke of luck, I found myself on the committee to curate the list with with some serious children’s literature heavy hitters – Rita Williams-Garcia, Margi Preus, Linda Sue Park, Gussie Lewis, and Soman Chainani.

As for how the list came together, our committee looked at all the audience nominations that came in a few weeks ago, then narrowed from there.
So now it’s here for you to take a gander at. What’s good? What’s missing? Have at it.

Well, Travis…I’m sure you know what I am going to say is missing. The Westing Game. Lately, I’ve heard some librarians call the book confusing, but I can assure you, the kids I give it to year after year aren’t confused. They tend to revel in the figuring!
That said, I think i might just take your headings and see what I can do! Of course, I won’t have to take into consideration a million NPR responses!
Thanks for doing the hard work. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during your conversations!
