Children’s authors and illustrators are typically a pretty diplomatic lot. They tend to have such respect for others in their field that asking them to put one book ahead of another might seem futile.
Maybe this is why I like the recent Caldecott/Newbery Matching Game at the Horn Book website. They pose the question, “which is your favorite Newbery/Caldecott winner” to the likes of Jerry Pinkney, Lois Lowry, and Erin E. Stead, and we get answers!
