What’s in the Secret Inbox of Mystery?

What’s this?

Better open it…

American Library Association Annual Conference here I come! This one has the makings of the best ever for the following reasons.

1. It’s close to home. A mere hop and skip around Lake Michigan for me.

2. There will be Nerds. A large contingent of Michigan Nerdy Book Club blog folks will be making the trek – keep your eyes peeled while on the exhibit floor and during the Newbery/Caldecott banquet for people using their hands as maps.

While I never seem to be able to write many blog posts during the conference, I’ll definitely be working the Instagram and Twitter.

Are you coming?

About Travis Jonker

Travis Jonker is an elementary school librarian in Michigan. He writes reviews (and the occasional article or two) for School Library Journal and is a member of the 2014 Caldecott committee. You can email Travis at, or follow him on Twitter: @100scopenotes.

  1. It’s an event of a lifetime for me. I wouldn’t miss it.

  2. I wouldn’t miss it! I will be using my hand as a map as well as being very nerdy! :)

  3. Nope! I had been planning to go while still at my old library, but now that I’ve switched jobs—it’s not going to work out this time. Maybe next time it’s in Chicago. I wish they still had them in Michigan sometimes. We could use the $!

  4. Yes! And will you be at the Caldecott Preconference on Friday? I leave tomorrow, and I’m excited!

    • Travis Jonker says:

Alas, no Caldecott preconference for me. I’m sad to miss it – sounds incredible. Have a good time!

  5. Liblaura5 says:

Packing right now as I surf the ALA scheduler from my phone!

  6. I’ll be there! I’m on my way to the city now, with a layover day in Indiana.
