Verdict: I went photo, which I like to try to avoid, but this is one time where I think the kid interest would be high. As the old book cover adage goes – “when in doubt, put a dog on the cover”.

My kids all love the Shiloh series! They read it in 4th grade as part of a class assignment.

I remember loving that cover when I was a kid! I felt like it beautifully captured the moral dilemma he was going through… the doubt and uncertainty and love for the dog and desire to do the right thing…
